Dr. Katherine H. Tackett
Dr. Tackett received her Doctorate in Audiology from Arizona School of Health Sciences in Mesa, AZ, her Master’s Degree in Audiology from then Memphis State University, and a B.S.E. in Speech Pathology at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, AR. She is Board Certified with the American Academy of Audiology and has a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Dr. Tackett began her career as an audiologist at the Shea Clinic in Memphis and helped develop the hearing aid division of the Clinic over her 15 years there. In 2000, she joined Dr. Daniel J. Orchik as he opened Hearing and Balance Centers of West Tennessee and The Jackson Hearing Center. When Dr. Orchik retired in 2007, Dr. Tackett and Elizabeth Hopkins purchased the practices.
Dr. Tackett has seen a lot of changes in hearing aids and hearing healthcare over her 35 years of practice. Whether it be through hearing aids or other assistive devices, she continues to be excited to see “what’s next” for the field of audiology and technology for the hearing impaired. While the development of technology is important, Dr. Tackett also understands the personal side of hearing loss and what it means to have a thorough diagnostic hearing evaluation and proper counseling in order for individuals and their families to have realistic expectations of one’s hearing loss and hearing improvement.
In her spare time, Dr. Tackett enjoys spending time with her family and friends, playing tennis, and traveling. She has two pups at home, Rebel, a Shitzu, and Ollie, a Yorkshire Terrier.
Elizabeth A. Hopkins
Hearing Instrument Specialist
Elizabeth A. Hopkins is Nationally Board Certified in Hearing Instrument Sciences. She has a B.S. in Biology from the University of Tennessee at Martin, Martin, Tenn. Ms. Hopkins is a member of the Tennessee Hearing Society.
Ms. Hopkins began her career in hearing healthcare at the Shea Clinic in Memphis, TN. While there, Ms. Hopkins began working in the Audiology Department and eventually moved full-time to the hearing aid division of the Clinic, Hearing Services of Memphis. In the fall of 2000, Ms. Hopkins joined Dr. Daniel J. Orchik as a Hearing Instrument Specialist when he opened Hearing and Balance Center of West Tennessee and The Jackson Hearing Center. At Dr. Orchik’s retirement in 2007, Ms. Hopkins and Dr. Katherine H. Tackett purchased the practices.
For over 35 years, Ms. Hopkins has been evaluating, prescribing and fitting hearing aids and other assistive listening devices. She finds enhancing someone’s hearing and making a difference in their life very rewarding. Ms. Hopkins works to make sure each patient has the opportunity to experience the best hearing aid technology has to offer. She believes that listening to the needs of her patients is very important to their success of better hearing. In her office is a plaque that says: People may forget what you said or what you did but no how you made them feel. She lives by that.
Ms. Hopkins and her husband, Mike, enjoy spending time at their Pickwick lake home. Her husband is an avid fisherman and on occasion she can give him a run for his money!
Dr. Courtney P. House
Dr. Courtney P House earned her Doctorate and Master’s Degree in Audiology from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN. She also has a B.A in Communicative Disorders from the University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS. She is Board Certified by the American Board of Audiology and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Dr. House joined our practice in 2011. Prior to that, she worked at an Ear, Nose, and Throat Clinic in Knoxville, TN. Dr. House understands that communication is critical to a person’s well-being. Conversations that require constant repetition can be devastating and Dr. House feels it is her job to help break that communication barrier. Knowing she is helping someone not only to hear better but also to enjoy life more is the most rewarding part of Dr. House’s day.
Dr. House and her husband, Charlie, have two beautiful young children, a son and a daughter. They enjoy doing “kid” things and participating in church activities.
Lori S. Frederick M.A., CCC-A M.A.
Ms. Frederick graduated from the University of Memphis, Memphis, TN with a Master of Arts Degree in Audiology in 2000. She also has a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Memphis. Ms. Frederick is a member of the American Academy of Audiology and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Ms. Frederick joined our staff in 2008. Prior to that she had worked in several Clinical settings offering everything from newborn screenings to diagnostic hearing evaluations and vestibular testing. Ms. Frederick brings a plethora of experience and expertise.
Ms. Frederick’s main goal is to help improve quality of life. Every patient with a hearing loss has a very specific need and she knows it is her job to find what those needs are and how to meet them. Ms. Frederick is committed to working with patients to choose the best route for successful hearing. She’s a professional with whom you have confidence and rapport.
Kaitlyn R Tidwell, Au.D., FAAA
Dr. Tidwell received her Doctorate in Audiology from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Sciences from the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Mississippi. She is Board Certified by the American Board of Audiology and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Dr.Tidwell became a member of our staff in June 2015. Prior to her Doctorate program, Dr. Tidwell worked in our office as an Audiology Assistant. She also completed her 4th-year externship for her Doctorate at our office. In fact, we have always felt Dr. Tidwell was a part of our family. Dr. Tidwell’s grandmother was a patient of ours and she would frequently accompany her to office visits long before she had any interest in Audiology.
Dr. Tidwell knows that a life without the ability to hear can be very isolating. She is committed to repairing communication breakdowns and restoring the independence that is often lost when suffering from hearing loss or tinnitus. Providing a positive experience for the best hearing healthcare is Dr. Tidwell’s top priority.
Dr. Tidwell and her husband, Jon, have one beautiful two year old daughter and she is expecting their second in March. She also has a precious Golden Doodle named Faulkner. She is originally from Corinth, MS.
Claire M. Horn, Au.D., FAAA
Dr. Horn graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Doctorate in Audiology from the University of Memphis in Memphis, TN. She also earned a B.S. in Speech-Language Pathology from the University for Women in Columbus, MS. Dr. Horn completed her 4th-year externship at our office and joined our staff in June 2018. She is Board Certified by the American Board of Audiology and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Dr. Horn feels most rewarded when patients come in for their follow-up after being fitted with new hearing aids. She enjoys seeing how excited patients are about hearing sounds that had been forgotten and seeing them reconnect to family and friends. She is committed to remain up-to-date on the latest technology and treatments for hearing loss and tinnitus.
Dr. Horn grew up in a small town in Mississippi and is married to her best friend, Jake. They adopted the cutest and scruffiest dog ever several years ago and are looking forward to welcoming their first child this summer. Dr. Horn works in both the Memphis and Jackson offices.
Holly M. Murphy, Au.D., FAAA
Dr. Murphy receive her Doctorate degree in Audiology from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS and a Bachelor’s degree in Communicative Sciences and Disorders from the University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS. She joined our staff at The Jackson Hearing Center in June 2018. Prior to moving to Jackson, Dr. Murphy worked at an Ear, Nose, and Throat Clinic in Columbus, MS.
Dr. Murphy brings her expertise in all aspects of audiological testing, hearing and tinnitus evaluations, and hearing aid fittings to our practice. Dr. Murphy is Board Certified by the American Board of Audiology and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Dr. Murphy understands that communication is key to living a full life. She realizes that no two people are the same and how important it is to stay up-to-date on the most advanced hearing aid technologies. This commitment allows Dr. Murphy to provide the best products for different hearing losses and lifestyles.
Dr. Murphy was born and raised in Mississippi. She’s a very crafty person by nature and is always looking for a new project to keep her busy. She also enjoys spending time with her two Daniff’s, Maddy and Pazuzu, and her French Bulldog, Tootie.
Edna May Jackson
Edna May joined our practice in February 2013. She holds a certification in business administraion from the Katherine Gibbs Business School in New York and worked for a number of years as secretary to the publisher of McGraw-Hill. Prior to moving to Jackson, she worked at the corporate headquaters for JC Penney in Plano, TX for over 20 years. Mrs. May manages our Jackson office, scheduling appointments, greeting patients, and assisting patients and our audiologists with all of their administrative needs.
Billing & Insurance Specialist
Jana joined our staff in 2019 as our insurance and billing specialist. She is in charge of all of our patient insurance and accounting. Jana enjoys helping patients receive the maximum benefits available to them. She also handles most of the behind-the-scenes operation of the office in Memphis.
Jana and her husband, Tim, have two sons. When she’s not busy with her family, Jana enjoys repurposing old furniture and painting. She grew up in St Mary’s, Georgia and is an avid Georgia Bulldog fan!
Front Office- Memphis
Mrs. Roberts joined our practice in December 2011. She assists our audiologists and office manager with administrative duties and oversees the daily operations of our Memphis office. She greets patients, updates patient information, and focuses on meeting their needs in a timely, compassionate manner. She also sells supplies and, as a patient of ours since 2006, she has a deep understanding of the needs of our patients.
Starry Bady has worked in the Memphis office part-time since 2017. She assists the audiologists with administrative duties and credentialing. She also works closely with the Front Office staff. She’s a definite team player!
Starry was Memphis born and raised. She loves everything Memphis-the southern hospitality, music, sports, our history, and of course our BBQ! She also enjoys cycling trails downtown and visiting historic landmarks.
