Dr. Katherine H. Tackett

Audiologist

Meet Dr. Katherine H. Tackett

Dr. Tackett received her Doctorate in Audiology from Arizona School of Health Sciences in Mesa, AZ, her Master’s Degree in Audiology from then Memphis State University, and a B.S.E. in Speech Pathology at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, AR.  She is Board Certified with the American Academy of Audiology and has a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

Dr. Tackett began her career as an audiologist at the Shea Clinic in Memphis and helped develop the hearing aid division of the Clinic over her 15 years there.  In 2000, she joined Dr. Daniel J. Orchik as he opened Hearing and Balance Centers of West Tennessee and The Jackson Hearing Center.  When Dr. Orchik retired in 2007, Dr. Tackett and Elizabeth Hopkins purchased the practices.

Dr. Tackett has seen a lot of changes in hearing aids and hearing healthcare over her 35 years of practice.  Whether it be through hearing aids or other assistive devices, she continues to be excited to see “what’s next” for the field of audiology and technology for the hearing impaired.  While the development of technology is important, Dr. Tackett also understands the personal side of hearing loss and what it means to have a thorough diagnostic hearing evaluation and proper counseling in order for individuals and their families to have realistic expectations of one’s hearing loss and hearing improvement.

In her spare time, Dr. Tackett enjoys spending time with her family and friends, playing tennis, and traveling.  She has two pups at home, Rebel, a Shitzu, and Ollie, a Yorkshire Terrier.
