When some people hear about hearing loss, they think about older adults or seniors however, it’s one of the most common disorders found in newborns.

Approximately 1%-2% of newborns experience hearing loss so 24 to 48 hours after birth, the baby will have a basic hearing test to assess their abilities.

If the newborn does not pass the test, the baby is rescreened before the family leaves the hospital. If the infant does not pass the second hearing test, they will be referred to a specialist for further testing.
